Provided over the course of 3-8 months, College Art Admissions Consulting for Rising Juniors ideally begins at the end of the student's sophomore year of high school and continues until the end of the student's fall semester of junior year.

 

Each program is tailored to the student's unique skills and future goals.

For high school juniors, this includes personalized recommendations to enhance the student's artistic skill levels and breadth of knowledge, guided lessons and assistance in developing their portfolio, and ongoing support over the course of working closely with Carrie.

 
 

 

Carrie's 3-tiered approach includes:

 

Assessment & Strategy

  • A 1 hour introductory consultation call (in person or via Skype);

  • A projected academic plan for the student's final years of high school to prepare them for the college application process;
  • Personalized reading list based on the student's interests and college objectives;

  • Recommendations for classes, extracurricular courses, and activities that will enhance their application process.

Guidance & Preparation

  • Up to ten (10) Portfolio Prep lesson plans for self-guided instruction;

  • Up to twelve (12) 60-minute Portfolio Prep sessions* that focus on the college admissions process (sessions include art education resources);

  • A professional, in-studio photography session for up to 30 artworks for the student's portfolio.

Communication & Support

  • Frequent, ongoing communication with both student and parent(s) throughout the process;

  • Responsive support in person and via email and Skype over the course of the program (timeline dependent on program start date).

  • Knowledgeable, empathetic guidance and advising.

 

*For local students (Southern Maryland area), Portfolio Prep sessions take the form of a scheduled weekly small group class. For students working with Carrie remotely, Portfolio Prep sessions are completed through self-guided projects, with 30 minute weekly Skype sessions during which Carrie provides project critiques and advising.

Introductory consultation call for High School juniors

The Introductory Consultation Call is ideal for high school juniors who are beginning to explore the college admissions process for art programs and are unsure where to focus their efforts.

The call includes the following:

  • Initial review of current portfolio and academic standing;
  • Personalized assessment of student goals and outcomes'
  • Personalized assessment of parent goals and concerns;
  • Brainstorm session of possible college programs and future careers of interest.

At the end of the call, both student and parent(s) will be provided with a verbal summary of the discussion, as well as a verbal projected plan for college admission process.
